The 25th edition of Harborfest will be July 26-29, 2012.  Festival officials are now accepting applications from performers who wish to perform at Harborfest 2012.

“The program committee did a great job of putting together a strong line-up of performers this past year,” said Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van
Schaack.  With this being our 25th Anniversary festival, we anticipate a large number of submissions.”

Local lawyer Tim Fennell was the big winner in the 2011 Harborfest Raffle.  Fennell, a partner at the law firm of Amdursky, Pelkey, Fennell & Whalen, P.D., won $1812.90 with his winning ticket.

HARBORFEST RAFFLE RESULTS

The 2011 Harborfest Raffle generated $6043 and was split three ways.  The first place winner, Tim Fennell of Oswego won $1812.90; Margie Clark, the 2nd place winner took home $906.45; and, 3rd place Roger Stokes won $302.15.  Congratulations to our winners.  Thank you to everyone for supporting the 2011 Harborfest Raffle.

Harborfest Trolley’s will be running an east-west side trolley loop this year during Harborfest 2011. The trolley route will begin at the Romney Fieldhouse parking lot off of Route 104W. From Romney, the Trolleys will travel on Seneca Street to West First Street to Lake Street to Breitbeck Park. Stops along the way will be on West First Street-Seneca Street, in front of the Harborfest Midway on Lake Street and at Breitbeck Park.

Barenaked Ladies, presented by Constellation Nuclear Energy Group, will be the featured headliner on Friday, July 29 on the NRG Lakeview Stage at Breitbeck Park with local favorite Frostbit Blue opening for the popular Canadian alternative rockers. Frostbit Blue will take the stage beginning at 7:30 PM, followed by Barenaked Ladies at 9:30 PM.

Harborfest officials have announced that the Novelis Family Park will be at East Park in Oswego as part of Harborfest 2011. The Family Park presented again by Novelis will be dedicated to programming and entertainment for children and their families. The venue will be filled with a variety of quality, family orientated activities and entertainment that children will be sure to enjoy.

HERMAN’S HERMITS STARRING PETER NOONE will close out 2011 Harborfest on the NRG Lakeview Stage Sunday, July 31. The Brian Lindsay Band and Magical Mystery Tour will open Sunday’s concert in Breitbeck Park beginning at 1 PM.
Noone, born Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone in Manchester, England, became lead singer, spokesman and frontman of Herman’s Hermits at age 15. As “Herman”, the photogenic Noone appeared on the covers of many international publications, including a Time Magazine cover in April 1965 showing new faces in popular music.

Opening Night at Harborfest 2011 is upon us and will feature America’s top Pink Floyd show, THE MACHINE and their scintillating laser show. Known for performing a diverse mix of The Floyd’s extensive 16-album repertoire, the New York based band’s stellar musicianship, dramatic lighting and video, and their passionate delivery sets them above and beyond the rest.  The Machine focuses on making every show an authentic Floydian experience for their fans, exploring collective improvisation paralleling and even rivaling that of an early 1970’s Pink Floyd mentality.  Breitbeck Park opens at 5 PM, The Jody Raffoul Band gets things started on the NRG Lakeview Stage at 7 PM followed by The Machine performs Pink Floyd at 9:30 PM.

BARENAKED LADIES, one of Canada’s most popular alternative rock bands will headline Harborfest 2011, it was announced today. BNL, formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, is best known for their hit singles “One Week,” “The Old Apartment,” “Pinch Me,” “If I Had $1,000,000” and “Brian Wilson.” BNL have won multiple Juno Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, and have been twice nominated for Grammy Awards. Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, a long time supporter of Harborfest will sponsor the Friday, July 29 concert on the Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park beginning at approximately 9.

Harborfest officials announced earlier today an incentive for past supporters of the annual admission free festival to renew their Harborfest memberships.  Friends of the Festival members are encouraged to send in their 2011 membership form by April 15 in order to take advantage of the Harborfest membership incentive program that offers members who contribute $100 or more the opportunity to receive a gift card from one of several Harborfest supporters.

Harborfest has introduced a new “Kids Page” on the Harborfest web site, featuring information on the Novelis Family Park at East Park, the Oswego Health Children’s Parade, the Children’s Gala and a new feature, the Kids Activity Page.

The activity page features puzzles and games for kids that relate to Harborfest.  The activity page has been distributed to elementary schools in the Oswego City School District and will continue through the end of the school year, with a new activity page each month.

Harborfest week just got a little more exciting and unique as the Triple-D (Derby, Down and Dirty) 2011 extravaganza will take place at Crisafulli Ice Arena during the same week of Harborfest. The 3-day Flat Track Roller Derby event, in which derby skaters compete for cash prizes for their home leagues or favorite charity, will be held Friday, July 29-Sunday, July 31.
