Oswego, NY (April 5, 2017) – The children who visit the Novelis Children’s Park during Harborfest this year will again benefit from the generosity of the Richard S. Shineman Foundation.
This year’s grant will be used to sponsor the Robotics and S.T.E.A.M. Station, which hosts a variety of exciting, hands on activities that span the worlds of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The award also is an acknowledgement of the way the family-oriented summer festival has inspired and supported the city’s youth for 30 years.
Present at the official announcement were Harborfest Executive Director Peter Myles, Chairman of the Children’s Park Chena Tucker, and the Richard S. Shineman Foundation’s Executive Director Karen Goetz. The Children’s Park will be open Thursday-Sunday, July 27th-30th.
“Each year that I have been involved with the Novelis Children’s Park I am truly inspired,” said Chena Tucker. “We could not do what we do without the hard work of our volunteers and generous support from businesses and community organizations like the Shineman Foundation.”
“The Shineman Foundation is proud to support the Children’s Park again this year,” said Karen Goetz, executive director. “We have been very impressed with its expansion and quality of programming the past three years.”
The Shineman Foundation’s mission is to be a catalyst for change to enhance the quality of life in Oswego County. With that vision in mind, the foundation focuses its funding on non-profit organizations that are located in or benefit Oswego County.
