Harborfest has earned its second Syracuse Area Music Award, called a SAMMY, for its excellent annual lineup of national and regional music. Harborfest received its People’s Choice award as Best Event or Music Series.
It’s the second time the festival has received this honor, which is the result of a vote by the general public that whittles a long list of nominees down to a single honoree.
“Our staff and volunteers work hard each year to create a lineup that has something in it for almost everyone, from rock and country to jazz, blues, R&B, Irish music and more. It’s always wonderful to be recognized for our efforts but this is special because it comes from the people who attend our festival and many other events and shows,” said Dan Harrington, Executive Director.
Carol Dillabough, Harborfest’s sponsorship and marketing manager, accepted the award at the recent ceremony at the Palace Theater in Syracuse. “Since 1988, Harborfest has grown from a local event to a major, admission-free music festival,” Dillabough said in accepting the award. “Each year we work hard to provide quality entertainment and experiences for all ages. This year we will continue the tradition of showcasing over 30 music performances and attractions.”
Harborfest’s musical lineup is anchored by country music stars Parmalee on Friday, July 25 at 9:15 p.m. The North Carolina-based quartet has been together for more than two decades and boasts four #1 singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay charts.
