New rides will take Harborfest patrons high into the Oswego night sky and zip them in circles to a modern soundtrack. The Dreamland Amusements Midway Carnival will add four attractions to its exciting mix of rides, games and carnival treats. The Ferris wheel ride called “The Wheel” raises riders 110 feet above the ground while the “Music Express” spins riders back and forth at high speed amidst music and spectacular lights. Zero Gravity spins riders in a fast circle while The Sizzler spins them in circles within circles. The Midway Carnival, sponsored by the Port of Oswego Authority, runs Wednesday – Sunday July 24 – 28 in the Lake Street parking lot.
“The Midway is a Harborfest staple that delights fans every year. We’re excited to welcome Dreamland Amusements back for another year of exciting and safe thrills and urge riders to take advantage of our special pre-festival discount on the cost of ride wristbands,” said Dan Harrington, Harborfest Executive Director.
Until the Midway opens at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, people will receive one free ride-all-day wristband with the $75 purchase of three wristbands or can buy 50 individual ride tickets for $45. This sale is online only. During Harborfest, ride-all-day wristbands will cost $25 per person, except on Saturday, when it will be $30. Individual ride tickets cost $1.50 and each ride requires between two and five tickets. During Harborfest, individual ride tickets can be purchased in blocks of 20 tickets for $30 and 50 tickets for $60. Wristband buyers must be at least 36 inches tall. Online sales are final and non-refundable. All ride tickets and wristbands are sold by Dreamland Amusements and Harborfest does not sell tickets or have them available at its office.
Parents should carefully consider whether to buy ride tickets for smaller children. Riders must be 36” or taller for many rides. There may be a few rides for children 30” – 35” tall. A parent must accompany children under 17 years old. You can see all of Dreamland Amusements’ policies here.
The Midway Carnival will be open 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. – Midnight Friday and Saturday and Noon – 5 p.m. Sunday.
