Shineman Foundation Supports Novelis Children’s Park

Oswego, NY(May 4, 2016)- The children attending the 29th annual Oswego Harborfest will benefit from the generous grant from the Shineman Foundation as it supports the Novelis Children’s Park STEAM program. Present at the official announcement were Harborfest Executive Director Peter Myles, Harborfest Sponsorship Coordinator Rick Rodgers, and representing the Shineman Foundation was its Executive Director Karen Goetz. The Children’s Park will be open Friday-Sunday during Harborfest.

Myles stated, “We are very grateful to the Shineman Foundation for their unwavering dedication to our community’s bright young minds. The STEAM program is an exceptional thing to bring to Harborfest, and it contributes to the roster of events and activities scheduled to take place benefitting the City of Oswego and its residents. We just want to remind the community that our festival would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, and we want to take the opportunity to again thank the Shineman Foundation for their incredibly generous gift.”

Oswego Harborfest seeks Antiques Vendors for River Walk East

Annual Festival Adds New Vendor Category

Oswego, NY(May 9, 2016)- The 29th annual Oswego Harborfest is now offering antique vendors the opportunity to showcase their merchandise to the nearly 125,000 people who attend the free-admission music festival that will take place the last weekend in July.

In addition to the existing arts and crafts vendors, antiques vendors will be situated on River Walk East, located behind the Best Western and Quality Inn Hotels. Vendors will be open for shoppers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival.

Applications have already been sent out to several vendors, and Harborfest encourages interested applicants to download an application and send it in as soon as possible. The applications can be found at www.oswegoharborfest.com/antique-vendor-application/.

Harborfest Executive Director Peter Myles stated, “Harborfest is proud to now offer antique vendors the chance to be visible to the large number of people who visit our festival. We believe it is an extremely valuable opportunity both for the vendors and for our event, and we are looking forward to having antique vendors be part of our festival. Volunteers Needed for 29th Annual Oswego Harborfest

Oswego, NY (May 10, 2016) – For the 29th consecutive year, Oswego Harborfest will bring thousands of festival goers to the City of Oswego from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31. As always, the success of such a large annual tradition relies not only upon the talent, entertainment, food, and other vendors, but also the invaluable contributions of countless volunteers. Their efforts are an integral part of the summer festival.

Once again, Oswego Harborfest is seeking out volunteers to provide assistance with a variety of important responsibilities. Some of the opportunities that are available to volunteers are helping set up and take down operations, selling raffle tickets, helping artists, providing information to festival goers, helping in the office, parking attendant and crew, shuttle host and aide, and park management. There is even a “floater” position, for those who prefer to do a little bit of everything.

Volunteers must complete the registration form, and training programs are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20th and Thursday, July 21st. Applications are here or can be picked up in person at the McCrobie Building, 41 Lake Street.

DENNIS DEYOUNG: THE MUSIC OF STYX Joins Harborfest Roster

Oswego, NY (May 3, 2016) – On Friday, July 29, one of the premier free-admission music festivals in the country continues with a special appearance by one of the founding members of iconic rock band STYX. Dennis DeYoung will take the NRG Lakeview Stage at 10:00 PM on Friday, with a performance brought to Harborfest in part by Eagle Beverage-Budweiser.

Dennis DeYoung is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer who was one of the original members, and lead vocalist and keyboardist, of the Chicago super-group STYX from 1970 until 1990. He is credited with writing more STYX songs than any other band member, and has been honored by his native city of Chicago as “Great Performer of Illinois”. His songwriting ability and musical talent created some of music’s most iconic hits, and he brings that star power to the stage during Harborfest’s 29th annual summer festival.

Harborfest Executive Director Peter Myles stated on the topic of the performance that, “Dennis DeYoung is a wonderful addition to Harborfest’s musical guest list. We’re excited to show the public and our supporters what other acts and events we have planned for this year’s festivities”.

Blues Traveler Kicks Off 29th Annual Oswego Harborfest

Grammy Award-winning band to take the NRG Lakeview Stage

Oswego, NY (April 19, 2016)- On Thursday, July 28, one of the largest free-admission music festivals in the nation will gain a very special visitor. Rock legends Blues Traveler will appear on the NRG Lakeview Stage at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday evening, courtesy of C&S Companies and Cayuga Community College.

Blues Traveler was formed in 1987, and since then has tirelessly changed the face of music. Their ever-evolving sound has enchanted listeners for nearly 30 years, and provided the musical soundtrack to multiple generations. Their most recent studio album, Blow Up the Moon, was released last year to critical acclaim and showed a unique collaborative approach to music that proves the band’s credentials as rock innovators.

Harborfest Executive Director Peter Myles said, “Blues Traveler is an incredible band to have launch this year’s festivities. I would like to thank our sponsors, C&S Companies, and Cayuga Community College, because without their support, this wouldn’t be possible.”

Oswego County’s Got Talent

Calling all youth talent!

Harborfest Children’s Park Committee in collaboration with the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is proud to announce the return of the “Oswego County’s Got Talent” showcase to the 2016 Harborfest Children’s Park Events schedule. The committee is looking for youth participants, ages 8-18, who want to showcase a talent they possess.

The showcase will be held on Sunday July 31st, 2016 at the Harborfest Children’s Park (West Park) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
Are you skilled at singing, dancing, acting, joke telling, playing a musical instrument, sports tricks or something else? We want YOU!
