OSWEGO, NY (April 13)—Harborfest says it has a critical need for several additional not-for-profit organizations to staff food ticket booths during Harborfest 2005. Harborfest says it will pay between $550 and $780 for staffing services provided by not-for-profit organizations during the festival, depending upon the location of the food ticket booth and hours of ticket booth operation.
The festival said participating not-for-profit organizations must be able to recruit the staff necessary to operate the food ticket food during the hours required by festival management and meet certain other requirements. Not-for-profit organizations who contract with the festival are helping themselves and their community. The festival pointed out that unlike other fund raising activities undertaken by not-for-profit organizations there are no risks associated with this fund raising activity nor any investment.
Harborfest says the food ticket program was instituted in 1994 at the request of the City of Oswego to ensure the city its fair share of sales tax related to food purchases at the festival.
