Port of Oswego Authority brings Tall Ships to Harborfest 2012

Located at the corner of West First and Lake Streets, the Historic Maritime District will play host to a couple of new attractions in 2012 in addition to the Harborfest Midway. In the Maritime District Park there will be a “Gasoline Alley” racing display and out on West Pier there will be a historic Tall Ships docked for festival goers to tour.

“Gasoline Alley” is a brand new venue for the Maritime District in 2012. Watkins Glen International and the Oswego Speedway will have displays set up for racing enthusiasts to look at. Oswego Speedway announcer Joe Marotta will broadcast his “Around the Tracks” radio program live from the venue on Saturday morning at 9:00 on 1390 AM WFBL or online at cnytalkradio.com.

Tall Ships return for the 25th annual Harborfest courtesy of the Port of Oswego Authority. The H. Lee White Marine Museum will be the gateway to a great display of Tall Ships that will be on display to celebrate the bicentennial of the beginning of the “War of 1812”. The ships on hand for public tours will be the Fair Jeanne, La Revenante, Caledonian and the Oswego Maritime Foundation’s Ontario. Tours will be available daily and there will be battle reenactments in the harbor with Historic Fort Ontario at 1:30 on Saturday and 12:30 on Sunday.
